2022 Board Elections

Dear Members,

As previously announced, the board elections for this year have been called early, and the formal documentation is attached. You have until the end of the 21st of May to nominate other members for election to the board.

To do so you must email election@hacman.org.uk with your nomination(s) from the email address you use in the membership system, stating your name and the name(s) or username(s) of the member(s) you wish to nominate.

You do not need to nominate current board members - they will automatically be asked if they wish to stand. You can’t nominate the returning officer.

Reminder: This is the last day to make nominations for election to the Board. Nominate by emailing election@hacman.org.uk with your nomination(s) from the email address you use in the membership system, stating your name and the name(s) or username(s) of the member(s) you wish to nominate.

If you are a member you should shortly recieve your voting email. If you think you should have received one, but haven’t by 1300 today, please email election@hacman.org.uk with your email address and username and I will look into it.

The candidates have all provided a short piece of text to encourage you to vote for them - none of these were found to be over the length limit, and are reproduced below in random order.

Frank Hall

The space has grown significantly since I joined in Nov 2018 and while I am in the fortunate position of being able to offer a good portion of my free time to the space, now is a good opportunity for me to take the baton and continue the efforts that many have made, to make the space what it is today. I’d like to thank our previous board members for all their hard work. Being on the board is a big commitment and I will need the support of many others to help make a success of it.

I’ll not bore you with a long statement, or lengthy arguments about why to vote for me, those kinds of speeches are for politicians.
So here we are, firstly I hope you’ll all agree that we owe a debt of thanks to the incumbent board for their hard work over the previous year, in conjunction with the membership.

I’d like to continue this work, but realistically, that’s not just for the board, it’s the work of all of us, you are all equally responsible for the space, as am I with you, lets do this together.

Joe Christian

I joined in November 2021 having moved to the city from Bristol. I was an active part of developing the Hackspace there. I’m hoping to formalise processes within HacMan to help members contribute to the space easier. Where processes already exist, this may simply be making sure they are documented so members can access them.

I would also like to make the board’s role more defined, and the board themselves more approachable. Ensuring members are aware who we are, what we do and how we can help.

No Further Places is a candidate that, if elected, leaves any further positions vacant, rather than filling them.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask - I can be contacted by emailing election@hacman.org.uk.

Greg Morris - Returning Officer
