About the Purchase Proposals category

This category is for Subgroup Teams to make Purchase Proposals.

If you are in a subgroup team, you should have permission to post. If you do not, you need someone on the subgroup team to add you to the team on the forum system.

All other users are set to reply-only. If you’d like to join a subgroup team ask a member of the team.

The currently defined subgroups are:

  • Wood
  • Metal
  • Bikespace
  • Electronics
  • Visual Arts (currently an empty team)
  • The Board

If you would like a new subgroup team defining please contact the Board.

When making a post there is a default proposal format that is auto-loaded. Delete the prompts as you go.

Proposal Type:
Micro/Small/Medium/Large (Delete as Appropriate)

Your name and Subgroup Team affiliation (John Smith - WoodyDusty)

What do you want to buy and why?

Explain how it will be achieved- Who will buy, install, run, maintain etc

What are the benefits? Explain what the issues are and how this proposal overcomes them.

Proposed Purchase:
Where will you buy this thing? Where’s the money going?

Proposed Installation:
How exactly will what you buy fit into hackspace and who will install it? Is this replacing something, what will happen to the old?

Will there be an ongoing consumables cost?

Funding type:
Fully funded by Hackspace / Pledge-drive / External Funded / Donation / Etc. (delete as appropriate)

Health & Safety
Does this need a risk assessment or is it already covered by an existing one? Does it need inductions to use? Who will make these processes?

Micro Proposal <£50 - 1 Board Member and 2 Members
Small Proposal < £150 - 2 Board Members and 5 Members
Medium Proposal < £500 - Majority of Board Members and 10 general members
Large Proposal > £500 - consult the board before gathering membership support, a strict board majority must be achieved. Large proposals can only be approved at members meetings with majority support from the members present. Proxy votes can be used.
