Badge makers, t-shirt printers and more!

What do you think about getting a badge maker, a t-shirt printer and
similar stuff? Back in StockportHS days there was a plan to get/do DIY
screenprinting for T-shirts. HACMan and Manchester Free Software could
share the cost. A suitable badge maker is
http://buttons.co.uk/index.php?pg=3&m=2&pid=70 but it costs £333.60 inc.
VAT.

Happy Making,
Mike.

Looked into this, the price to buy badges made to a design is 18p each. The
price to make them is about 13p each (plus time).

£330 / 0.05 = 6600 badges

I dont think it’d be worth it for us tbh dude.

Looks like you could decrease costs significantly by choosing a single die
size though (140 vs 330)

Ta,

The act of making them not appeal? Perhaps not at the cost. It would
best if we could get something second hand. The single die is a lot
cheaper but feels limiting as MFS current has badges of different sizes.

What about T-shirt printing?

Mike.

I have a friend who has one of these with a 25mm die, which he rarely uses. How many badges were you thinking of doing? I might be able to borrow it. The badges work out about 9p each, just for materials…

For reference, I deal with a company based in Essex which does
promo-gifts for us at work (they do some forfullment on our behalf)

Should give you an idea of costs to compare against - although I would
agree that 1/2 the point is making them yourself!
