Hi All
I’m the one looking into the space in Broadstone Mill. I need to get
some rough numbers on who is willing to pay what for what. An initial
idea would be to set the space up with a number of desks dependent on:
1, How many want a permanent desk all to themselves
2, How many want a semi-permanent desk to share (hot desk)
3, Use the space during meeting times only.
Please let me know which of the 3 (or maybe some other option) you
are looking for and how much you are willing to pay. I will then work
out the size of the office we need to begin with and get some actual
realistic numbers back.
cheers
Andrew
There is also an option 4 that Jon has raised, where you pay something
like £5 for a days use.
cheers

My ideal preferences…
NOT meeting times only (if poss)
Hot desk
Up to £20 max
A permanent/hotdesk would be very very handy but not vital yet as I
wouldn’t be using them a great deal at the moment. I’d be willing to
pay £30-£35 - That will increase quite a bit if I started using it
more often though.

Personally I would go for 3, but that’s because I’m not hacking or
currently planning to hack on any hardware. I imagine if I did start
something I would go for 2, but at the moment I can enjoy watching
people work and/or find a corner to sit in with laptop without even
needing desk space.

Personally, i’d prefer a shared Workshop-type space, with shelves for
per-project plastic boxes to throw your stuff in when you go home. As long
as everyone cleans up after themselves!
I have also had some ideas on finances & fundraising, i’ll put together a
post about it tonight. (at europython at the moment!)

I guess I sit mainly on 3, it really depends, if I start working on
something with someone hardware’y then that would be cool, but being a
software kinda guy I can pretty much bring my tools (laptop) with me and my
desk (my lap) with me
As for cost, I think 15-20 pounds would be where I’m at, but again it
totally depends on whether I use the space or not, if I start using it for
something then that would be totally worth it
P.s. Sorry for the delay been snowed under recently

When I went round the Mill a couple of months ago
I was shown a few very large spaces we could have extremely
cheaply.
The only way to manage these for a group would be with
spaces open for all, as well as some (semi?)-permanent
workspaces.
There’s also the need for a few hotdesks for doing office
work, so that people can spend all day working there if
they want.

Richard, is there any way you can be at the next Stockport meeting on the
18th? (also, sorry it took so long for me to unmoderate you - I was on my
honeymoon at the time!)
