Cheers from sanctuary games

Cheers from us guys really appreciate the place being in a state where we
can’t even sit on an empty chair

I take it from this the space is a mess?

Can I remind everyone that we are having a space open day next saturday and
as such the space needs to be clean and tidy.
Perhaps a hack the space evening on Thursday to clean it?

We’ve just had three hack the space days. Do you think another evening
will solve the problem?

Most of what I saw last weekend was people moving sorting stuff into
different piles which just remained in the sitting area.

IMO we need to get a skip (which means figuring out what permissions
we need from the council to park a skip on the road), and throw about
50% of the contents of the space away. Personally I’d cancel any open
days until we do.On 1 September 2013 13:14, Kimball Johnson kimball@bowerham.net wrote:

Well give the space was quite tidy a couple of weeks before the makerfaire,
I would think that we could get it back to that state. And the last hack
the space weekend was allegedly taken up by building new stuff, so if we
have a just tidying night, then we should be able to get it back to how it
was?

You saw the state of the space when you were in this week. You could have
mentioned on the list to organise some people to tidy the space any time.
The space doesn’t tidy itself.

I spent an hour or so tidying round last night, but diddn’t make much of a
dent.On 1 September 2013 12:29, Kathryn Reeve kathryn@binarykitten.com wrote:

What needs to happen is that people have to have more respect for the space.

When you leave the space, there should be nothing out which wasn’t there when you entered. People leave projects and laptops and tools out on benches, or make a mess and don’t clean up.

There should be no “Oh I’ll tidy up/wash up my stuff tomorrow”. There should be no brushing sawdust/bits of wire/etc onto the floor and forgetting about them.

People are treating the space far too much like it’s their own house, and not enough like it’s a shared space.

Even if we have too much stuff for the space, the extra stuff can still be arranged tidily, and with space for people to actually use the tables/benches.

I seem to spend about 50% of my time in the space tidying and cleaning. I assure you, this is not because I enjoy doing it.

We shouldn’t be keeping the space clean for open days - We should be keeping it clean, on a daily basis, for our members.

I agree with Paul and I also seem to spend a lot of time tidying.

In my opinion Hack the space days were effective but made a considerable
mess. I am with Jim in that we need to remove a considerable amount of
stuff asap…either by skip or by car / van

Hi all,

Sorry for the passive aggressive email but it was annoying to have no space
whatsoever to use and not just that the space was untidy. This would be the
same no matter if it was games or not.

I agree with Paul & Alex with that we should tidy up after ourselves,
though I admit I’ve been guity of leaving cups & stuff in sink
