cnc plege drive?

hi all,

while the space has a few cnc projects in progress, i was wondering if
people would be interested in if the space would acquire a cnc machine kit
which just needs to be assembled? the stepcraft 2 would come as a DIY kit
with everything included for about 800 gbp.

here some info about the stepcraft:
https://www.stepcraft-systems.com/en/cnc-3d-systems/stepcraft-2-300

it could be used to customise professional enclosures, make pcb’s, …

would it be worth starting a pledge drive for this? what are your thoughts?

bests,

I’ve expressed an interest in a pledge drive for a CNC before, I think it’s
on the tools wish list
but a couple of things

  1. It may be best to wait until we’ve moved to the new space

  2. My opinion is, it needs to be large area CNC instead of a small one
(we already have 2 small ones, I’m working on getting the Proxxon working
    as we speak)
the smallest version of the Ooznest Ox is around £650 and that’s 500mm x
    750mm
    http://ooznest.co.uk/OX-CNC-Machine/OX-CNC-Mechanical-Kit
Although it only contains the mechanical parts and stepper motor’s the
    spindle and electronics is separate
(this is what I’ve got at home)

  3. With openbuilds parts / rails you can attach different heads to it very
    easily.

  4. I think Bob is looking for a C-Beam based machine for additional rigidity
a couple of others I’ve spoken to would like something as big as possible,
the largest iteration of the OX I’ve seen with C-Beam is the RoverCNC

Although we may be able to make the plates ourselves once the smaller CNC’s
are up and running (or if I get mine working any time soon)On Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 11:18:07 AM UTC, Constantin Popp wrote:
