If anyone is in town today, come along to the Manchester Day parade and
see the results of a hack - hand-painted silk human-sized butterfly
wings and flags. After painting the dye was fixed into the fabric using
a home-made silk steamer, made out of a piece of plastic drainage
culvert and 2 wallpaper steamers I hacked together for a total cost of
£100, the commercial steamers are over £1200. He’s called Steampunk Stanley.
The Manchester Day parade is on today and I’ll be playing with my band
in St Annes Square at 12:30, 2:30 and 5:15.
