Theoretically, preorders are now available through farnell and RS…
but both farnell and RS have fallen over screaming.I’m going back to bed.

Snap.
RS have screwed up according to the twitter feed.
Both sites are melting right now.

I’m not surprised…I’m actually quite glad I didn’t bother! I can’t
believe they have managed to get the Rasberry PI so popular!I’ll get one once the fever dies down…good thing I don’t need to
order anything from RS or Farnell for work today!!Alex

Which is really annoying, as I wanted something that isn’t a silly
piece of PCB.–

piece of PCB.Looks like they are both back now. Seemingly all 10k that were
available have sold out already.I think they are a nice board but I’m not really sure what I’d use one
for - they lack the power to run really ‘interesting’ software and
they
lack the connectivity of an Arduino.–

Pi the expansion features and general functionality of an Arduino…Jon “The Nice Guy” Spriggs

I’m planning on using one for the project a sketch, plug the two
quadrature encoders and the accelerometer into a minimus, and use a
hdmi to vga adaptor for the projector. Will mean a lot less stuff to
carry around, and since its a single function pc, a lot less setup
time at the other end!Alan Burlison alan.burlison@gmail.com Feb 29 11:17AM

I like the plan of using it for the project a sketch…Good
plan…Correct me if I’m wrong but the way the project a sketch works
is to read the position of the encoders and draw lines on the screen
using processing and to clear to the display if the accelerometer is
actuated…thats it! By using the R’ PI you can program the display
section more cleverly preventing people from sending the cursor off
screen never to be seen again…and have it store pictures etc.Alex
