I borrowed a set from the hackspace, however they seem to be badly out of
alignment. Out of three tests measuring and returning to zero I’ve had
+/-7mm difference each time.
Is there any way of fixing, or should I just throw them?

Last time I used them they were fairly accurate, but that was a long time ago. It feels silly suggesting this to you, but did you check the battery?

yepp,
i also noticed that they are fairly inaccurate.
maybe this could help:
https://www.woodgears.ca/caliper/index.html
the lidl in liverpool just had new calipers for around 10 quid…
maybe it’s easier buying a new one.
