Electric Desolder Pump

Thinking we should get one of these from hackspace funds - thoughts?

I’ve got something similar to that, it’s not great. The electric
solder sucker at hackspace is better and not very expensive.

How about looking on ebay for a nicer de-soldering station?

Ben Dooks, http://www.fluff.org/ben/ bjdooks@googlemail.com

It might be worth taking a proper look at our soldering equipment.

AFAIK we have:
1x Hot Air Reflow station (broken iron) - belongs to parag0n and he’d like
it back sometime
1x Temperature controlled solder station - works OK, has two irons, one
with a big tip, one with a small tip
1x Broken hot air TC solder station - belongs to tbsliver - worth looking
at this to see if we can fix it, if not, pitch it / return it to tom?
3x OK-ish 20-40w soldering irons - these are the ones that work well, and
have proper tips, but no good stands
1x tiny antex soldering iron - this is good for tiny SMT work, but useless
for most soldering
~6 crap orange irons - i think these belong to madlab, and are chipped and
crap.
2x Desolder pumps (both of which barely work)

So it looks like we’re OK for regular soldering equipment, but we need:

Anyone want to look at ebay / farnell etc to see if theres something that
will work well for desoldering and SMD reflow? If so, i’m willing to chuck
a tenner towards a pledge to buy something.

my thing isnt a hot air solder station, its just a basic cheap
variable temperature iron. Will probably end up buying myself a new
one anyway heh…On 25 June 2012 14:28, Bob Clough parag0n@ivixor.net wrote:

I’ve seen some circa-50ukp smt soldering solutions on ebay which have
a reasonable review. I’m going to suggest we have a quick look at
