EMF Camp 2014

Hey All,

EMF camp is back! The 3 day UK Hacker Camp is going to be taking place
from the 29th - 31st of August 2014.

The last one in 2012 was AMAZING, with talks, welding, workshops, air
cannons, soldering, a bar under the M1, and a massive hammock. Myself,
Kimball and Jim were there, and can attest to that fact

Tickets will be about £100 I think for the (long) weekend, and we’d like to
set up a hacman village (group of tents, fire pit, maybe a gazebo or two)
so the more the merrier

So whose coming, what are we taking, and shall we make something huge and
stupid for the event?

-Bob

I’m going again, yes last time was amazing, so much that’ i’m helping with
the setup this year.

As for huge and stupid, no idea.On 20 January 2014 12:25, Bob Clough parag0n@ivixor.net wrote:

I’m definitely going. My plans are:

  • 8 x 8 light-up pressure sensitive disco dance / monome / automata
floor (I’m still having trouble figuring out how to do the light-up
bit, so this about 50% likely to happen)
  • A drink transporting robot butler I’m planning with Bob (this is
    100% guaranteed to happen)

I’m up for renting a van and driving some HacMan stuff down. I’ll
probably be there for a week but I’m not sure if that will be set-up
or tear-down yet.On 20 January 2014 12:25, Bob Clough parag0n@ivixor.net wrote:

How long until we have to decide? I need to check calendar and stuff. On 20 January 2014 12:25, Bob Clough parag0n@ivixor.net wrote:

Until the tickets sell out. They were on sale almost up to the event
date last time, but may well go quicker this time. I don’t expect
they’ll be on sale for a few weeks yet though. On 20 January 2014 13:01, Ben Dooks bjdooks@googlemail.com wrote:

For those undecided, check this out:

Hacker camps often give out rad hackable badges to attendees, and EMF is no
exception. I’ve been on the Badge Team since early 2013, and worked on the
design of the SiNE and Boogaloo badges.

EMF 2012: TiLDA
TiLDA was an arduino Leonardo, with short range comms via IR and nRF
modules, an onboard LiPO, and RGB LEDs.

EMW 2013 (one day EMF related conference): SiNE
[image: Inline images 2]
SiNE was designed to be super cheap, as it was for a one day event. We put
together a Treasure Hunt around the event using IR comms, once a beacon was
seen with the IR receiver, the corresponding LED would light up. First to
find all 20 won!

EMF 2014: TiLDA 2: ElectroMagnetic Boogaloo

This year’s badge is going to be amazing. It has an Arduino Due, ePaper
Screen, Ciseco radio, audio output, RGB LEDs, an IMU… the list goes on!
