Handheld router

Proposal Type:

Micro

Proposer:

@MollyS-W

Description:

I would like to buy a handheld router with router bits and edge guide. These are useful for smaller projects and for being able to have greater control for more detailed cuts and grooves than the large routers we currently have. The tool needs very little maintenance (beyond proper use and clear up) and it is a standard tool to have in a home/amateur workshop.

Proposed Purchase:

This can be purchased on Amazon. For more details about the tool, please follow this link: Amazon.co.uk

Proposed Installation:

This does not need to be installed as it’s a handheld tool. It can be stored in the existing router cupboard as a complementary tool.

Budget:

£49.49 (with 5% voucher)

No ongoing consumables cost

Funding type:

Fully funded by Hackspace

Health & Safety

This tool should be covered by existing risk assessments for our larger routers, which do not need inductions to use.

I recently bought this one and would recommend it as it includes dust extraction, which is a major issue for the wood room.

Molly hadn’t realised about the purchase proposal system and has already bought this but only needed it once; so is retroactively submitting this

I’d probably also suggest a plastic box to store it all in together so it doesn’t all go walkies.

There’s clearly demand for this; but we’ve decided not to purchase this particular router due to its lack of dust extraction. I will put in an alternative proposal soon.

What’s happening with the one Molly bought?

That is her router and unfortunately we won’t be able to adopt it for the workshop due to its lack of dust extraction.

It’s a shame. That aside I would like to get an alternative because obviously it’s something that’s wanted.
