Laser Cutter Maintainence Log - Bluey

This thread will be used by laser maintainers to log any work done to ‘Bluey’ the larger blue laser cutter, it will be a record of works needed for commissioning and ongoing maintenance.

  • Temporarily hooked up @thinkl33t 's chiller

Created a seperate thread to try and log the details needed for the setup of the plywood base

Yesterday I:

  • Set the autofocus for 3mm material in firmare, this seemed to bring the head closer to the material and produced a better cut. (although personally I think it’s still too far).
  • Realised not to set focus to yes in the firmware settings, this made the laser cutter lower the bed to a point past the thread limits :man_shrugging:

Firmware was upgraded as part of the automatic air assist commissioning

Things to do on Bluey:

  • Need to put base on casters to allow laser alignment
  • Fix guiding laser (the wire connecting to power has snapped)
  • Print sign for cost of laser time and materials
  • Cleaning lens using lens cleaning wipes
  • Put slow closing arms on lid
  • Change laser switch for a key based version to lock out
  • Make box for laser maintence tools (to fit behind laser cutter)
  • Create material test but mount it so it doesn’t get chucked
  • Update material list in lightburn
  • Wire to extractor fan should be reinforced
  • Printed QR code or short url to link to induction sign up page
