Maker Faire UK is coming!

For those of you whose spider-sense has not been tingling, it’s coming to
that time of year again - the time in which makers, hackers, enthusiasts
and general purpose geeks congregate and PLOT TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!

ahem sorry about that. It’s coming up to the time when we get together in
Newcastle for the yearly party that is the UK Maker Faire!

So, this year, on the weekend of 25th - 26th April 2015 is the UK Maker
Faire, held at the Centre for Life in Newcastle. Many of you, I’m sure,
have been to this fantastic event, and I’m sure many of you will want to go
this time around…

And, through a combination of straw-selection, members of the hackspace’s
board’s selection, and a solid regard for most members sanity, it seems
this year, I will be your organiser/steward/crazy person… For my many,
many sins in what must of been an interesting past life

So, to this end, I have cribbed from Nottinghack’s wiki, and (with a
blatant disregard for plagiarism rules), created a wiki page. This contains
tables for those of you interested in coming or wanting to show projects
(and, of course, both) to populate :

http://wiki.hacman.org.uk/Maker_Faire_UK_2015

So, feel free to ask questions about the event, plans, even some of
Newcastle, and I’ll try to answer (if I can remember much about the past
few times I’ve been there… otherwise you’ll either get googled answers,
or I’ll try to pull information out of my legion of undead spies).

Thanks,
Your loyal servant Badspyro

For those of us who want to man the stand, is there a limit to how many we
need and do we need to do any special registration for it?On 9 March 2015 at 04:47, Chris Hilliard badspyro@gmail.com wrote:

Reminder that even if you can’t make it, we’d love to borrow any cool
things you’ve made in the space to show off.

Preferably things that’ll fit in the boot of a car!

Hi Chris,

And, through a combination of straw-selection, members of the hackspace’s
board’s selection, and a solid regard for most members sanity, it seems this
year, I will be your organiser/steward/crazy person… For my many, many
sins in what must of been an interesting past life

Congratulations/commiserations (delete as appropriate after the event).

There will be a few of us coming over from Lancaster area representing
Lancaster And Morecambe Makers (LAMM). Are we still okay to put some
stuff out on your table and help out?

Thanks, Ian.

I’ve added my skate disco-light project. I dunno if I can make the event itself (no pun intended), but it’s only little and has flashy lights and is therefore perfect. Also, I may have made an RGB version by then.

Hi Ian,

Yup LAMM are sharing with us

Do we want the arcade cab to be there? If so, I’ll try and get the software done right by then.

You are welcome to show my 3D printed proton pack if you wish…On Monday, 9 March 2015 08:24:50 UTC, bob wrote:

I think should should. But are you going to man any 3d printer shalls this year Tony? If so, it should be on your table. Also, if it’s mobile, perhaps you could bring your cnc router to the show. It was hand built after all.
