New Engineering Challenge TV show

See below. Just sayin’ :)Begin forwarded message:

A great oppportunity for you to appear in a new engineering challenge
show for Sky1 - with a cash prize incentive!

We’re looking for people with an interest in welding, engineering,
engines … anything sort of ‘Scrapheap Challenge’ related really!
In their teams of 3/4 they’ll have 72 hours to design, build and
operate a construction which will get them to the safe, or get the
safe to them. Throughout the challenge they will be also be given
clues to the combination of the safe.

The first team to reach the safe and crack the code (within the 72
hours time limit) wins the cash inside.

It’s a fun, fast paced show so we’re looking for enthusiastic,
energetic groups of men and women, who think they can beat the clock,
beat the other team, design and construct a machine to reach the safe
(or bring the safe to them) and break the code!

I’ve attached a flyer to give you some more information.

If you or your colleagues/friends would like to apply to be on the
show then please do so via this link: http://safebreakers.arecasting.tv
.

We’re looking for enthusiasm, great mates, banter, and the ability to
design and build a brilliant machine!!

Feel free to get in touch with any questions and I’ll do my best to
answer them.

Kindest Regards,

Nicole

Erm…I think I lack the finesse for this sort of work…but I’m thinking
industrial strength cutting laser mounted to some sort of robot with a grab
hook? We get the loot and then transport it away quickly! Suitable eye
protection for when the laser is in use of course!

I’m sort of interested. My mechanical skills are lacking a bit though, I
have never welded anything!

Bear in mind that this is going to be a TV show first and a fair competition
second - all shows like this are. If you go in with loads of ideas on how to
win you’ll probably be frustrated as most of them are disallowed in order to
make a balanced, entertaining show.

wouldnt be too hard to make a safe cracking arduino board (saw one on
hackaday a while ago that just cycles through diff lock combinations)
but sawing the safe open is prob fasterOn Tue, 2011-03-01 at 13:32 +0000, Jim MacArthur wrote:

Did you not read “clues to the combination” in the notes?

It seems to be more about physical access to the safe instead
of getting into it.

This Looks more like you have to build a machine to get the safe from the middle of a lake or something

Yeah, I’m thinking a scrapheap challenge kind of thing. Not really my cup
of tea and certainly not my brand of engineering. I’m more of a prototype
this kind of man
