Hi all, just found out about the group.
Keen to get involved and come to the next meetup if possible (last
announcement I can see was for 18th July which I’ve just missed).
I’m based in South Manc but used to travel to the Reddish/Stockport
area regularly. Are SE Manc and Stockport Hackspaces different
entities? As far as I can see there aren’t really any groups central
to Manchester - please correct me if I’m wrong.
Historically I’m more software orientated but currently attempting to
diversify into electronics etc.

Hi Richard,
Welcome to the group! Because we’re just starting out, and we’re trying to
get the maximum number of people at the meetings, at the end of each past
meeting, we use a website called Doodle to plan the date of the next meeting
- click this link http://doodle.com/nvmxge82n37mz8er to show your
availability for the next meeting - just because some people have already
picked dates, don’t assume you have to work around us! At the end of this
week, I’ll pick a date which has the most people able to attend, and then
start promoting it.
With regards to the separation of “Stockport and S/E Manchester” - this was
because the group was originally named “Stockport Hackspace”, but someone
mentioned once I’d posted the original calling note that “Reddish is closer
to Central Manchester than Didsbury is”, so to help keep any confusion out
of the way, and theoretically to enable more people to join the group, I
always mentally re-write it as “STOCKPORT (and s/e manchester) HACKSPACE”.

Heh! That was me. When I lived in Manchester and didn’t have a car,
Stockport, because it was not in Manchester, felt a long way away.
Whereas Didsbury was in Manchester, and so I’d be more likely to go to
something in Didsbury than Stockport. I didn’t want this thinking to
stop anyone living in Manchester from coming just because
psychologically it felt too far away! But people keep repeating the
"nearer than Didsbury" line! I should have said “Just a mere jaunt
down the A6” 
In actual fact it might not be nearer than Didsbury - that was going
off the tiny map in the front of the A-Z!
