Pledge drive for lighting replacement

We’ve purchased 4 new fittings and 4 new high-frequency ballasts
to re-fit the existing 6ft fittings. This is going to come to around £117
which means it is time for another pledge drive to cover the costs.

Not only will the new fittings better light the space, but they should
also save us 15-20% on the electricity costs of lighting due to the
more efficient electronics involved.

Bob, Jim and myself have already chipped in, which means we have
another £60 to find.

Skippy has already replaced one of the 8ft tubes which means we have
more light available to work with and I replaced the twin light-switch by
the door.

We plan on replacing the kitchen one with a 6ft tube next week once
Skippy has finished printing holding brackets, also moving it to be
along the main beam so it better illuminated the kitchen area.

Ben, this is the second time you have bought things and then run a pledge
drive. I know there are benefits, but please can you do it the other way
round in future, as this way it seems like you are trying to guilt the rest
of the members into buying things they may not think we need.

That said I will put in £20 this time.

I will apologies that we ended up doing more than we intended to do, as our
original plan
was simply to replace the 2 8ft tubes and the 5ft tube in the kitchen area.
However during
this we added the fourth fitting for the small room and then we found a
great deal for the
electronic ballasts to refurb the other tubes (we paid £20 inc for 4 units,
which are normally
around £15 excluding vat each)On 4 January 2014 20:26, Kimball Johnson kimball@bowerham.net wrote:
