Ryobi One+ 18v. Make sure to get the newer lithium one as they last
forever and don’t lose power.
They make a whole range of tools that use the same batteries, I used mine
to build most of the tables in the space. On 4 February 2014 15:44, Will Jessop will@willj.net wrote:

Any suggestions where to buy them? Otherwise I’ll just grab one from Amazon.

I just checked, they seem to be a bit pricier on Amazon than B&Q strangely.

Hello Will,
I’ve had numerous cordless drills over the years, but I’ve always found
them a bit of a pain
because after a while the batteries lose capacity. They were all NiCads (
or NiMH: same difference IMO ).
Recently I lost patience with these things and splashed out on a Makita (
LXT, I think, but it isn’t that important ).
I insisted on getting a Lithium battery and 18V. It cost 100 quid with
no second battery. Ouch.
At the same time there were loads of offers of 18V cordless drills with 2
batteries at half the price.
They were all NiCads, but the sneaky buggers often didn’t make that clear.
Frankly, I reckon the manufacturers realise Lithium is taking off and are
trying to offload their old NiCad stuff. Don’t get caught is my advice
I didn’t lose my nerve and got the Lithium. My experience is that it’s much
better; very powerful and holds its charge.
Now, I imagine the Ryobi is just as good ( better if the battery can be
shunted around )
The take-home message is get a Lithium and get 18V minimum ( I think some
are even bigger - 24V! ).
The drill I have isn’t a big monster; it’s small and neat. Just what you
want I reckon.
I also got a Lithium screwdriver which is small and shaped like a handgun!
I’m sure manufacturers do that for Freudian reasons.
It’s only 4V, but it’s fantastic and one of the best tools I ever bought.
No more creaking away with handheld screwdrivers.
It certainly has transformed my working. It’s a Ryobi make, but I suspect
any of the reputable manufacturers models will be as good.
But do make sure you get Lithium even though the NiCad models seem like
better value.
HTH
