Description:
Two items:
- A lathe thread converter
The thread converter will allow us to be able to mount our existing chuck onto the newly purchased lathe. This will enable members to create bowls, and other “face turning” projects. Currently the lathe will only support spindle turning projects (baseball bats, etc).
The wormwood screw / screw chuck will allow blanks to be loaded onto the lathe when doing face work. It is possible to do face work without this, however this makes it much easier, and you lose much less wood.
The only ongoing maintenance will be training people on how to use the lathe, but that will be handled by members of the wood team.

Proposed Installation:
The thread adapter will live with the chuck. It will stay screwed in so it is ready for mounting when needed. The worm wood screw will stay near the lathe.
We are going to build a table for the lathe to be mounted on, there will be some small storage area for these items so they don’t get lost.
Budget:
£23.90 - lathe thread converter (including postage).
Total payment: £23.90
No ongoing costs are required, a one time purchase!
Funding type:
Fully funded by Hackspace

Does this need a risk assessment or is it already covered by an existing one? Does it need inductions to use? Who will make these processes?
