Hi all
I am thinking of treating myself to a new tool for christmas. Well, two
actually, as I’m buying a circular saw for general heavy-duty joinery
tasks, but I need something that will cut PCBs, as well as acrylic, sheet
wood and occasionally aluminium.
The options are jigsaw (cheapest and possibly most versatile), or a bandsaw
or even a router. Can anyone point me in the direction of the best
all-round tool for these tasks?
Cheers
Rowan
Hi Rowan
I’ve had bad experiences with cheap bandsaws. If you do buy one, you will
have to replace blade with a quality one to get decent results. Same with
other saws, it’s not the actual motor that cuts…it’s the blade and this
is the part where you need to spend money,
If you are buying a discount jigsaw, make sure it can fit quality (e.g.
Bosch, DeWalt or Makita) blades. You definitely get what you pay for, and
Bonko blades will not serve you well at all.
